December 26, 1986 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Washir.gton, D.C. 20555 NRC DOCKET 50-321 OPERATING LICENSE DPR-57 EDWIN I. HATCH NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 1 ERRATA TO RPV SURVEILLANCE MATERIALS TESTING AND FRACTURE TOUGHNtSS ANALYSIS Gentlemen:

By Georgia Power Company (GPC) letter SL-189, dated January 10, 1986, we submitted General Electric (GE) topical report NEDC-30997, "Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Unit 1, Reactor. Pressure Vessel Surveillance Materials Testing and Fracture Toughness Analysis," to the NRC. The subject topical report constituted the summary technical report required by 10 CFR 50, Appendix H, Section III.A and discussed testing of surveillance capsule specimens removed from the Hatch Unit 1 reactor pressure vessel (RPV) during the Fall 1984 maintenance / refueling outage.

In order to correct the surveillance capsule removal date and to make editorial changes, we requested GE to issue an errata to NEDC-30997. The discrepancy in the surveillance capsule removal date was discussed in our letter dated January 10, 1986. Enclosed herein are 19 copies of the Errata and Addenda No. 1 to GE topical report NEDC-30997. Instructions for incorporating the revised pages are included in the enclosure.

The changes provided by the enclosed errata should have no effect upon the previously reported test results which 'were the bases for the proposed Technical Specifications changes submitted to the NRC by GPC letter SL-161, dated January 7, 1986. The proposed Technical Specifications ' changes were subsequently issued by the NRC as Amendment No.126 to Hatch Unit 1 Facility Operating License DPR-57.
