Perry Nuclear Power Plan:

l Docket Nos. 50-440; 50-441 Interim Guidance on E=ergency Planning Standard 10CFR50.47(b)(12)

Dear Mr. Youngblood:

Your le::er dated June 26, 1985 requested that we:

1. Confirm that offsite emergency plans include a list of local or regional medical facilities which have capabilities to provide trea: ment for radia: ion exposure, and
2. Commi: to full compliance with the Commission's response to the GUARD remand.

The PNPP Emergency Plan and the Ohio Sta:e Emergency Plan (Figure II-L-2) do include lists of local and/or regional medical facilities which have the cap 4 bili:y to provide treatment for radiation exposure. Additionally, PNPP commits to full compliance with the Commission's response to the GUARD remand.

Furthermore, we would point out that the record established in the recently concluded evidentiary hearing on Issue 1 in the PNPP ASLB proceeding demonstra:es that the offsite emergency plans for the Perry Nuclear Power Plan:

mee the interpretation of Emergency Planning-Standard 10CFR 50.47(b)(12) adapted by the U.S. Court of Appeals in the GUARD decision. Arrangements are in place wi:h hospitals in Lake, Ashtabula and Geauga Counties which would be adequa:e to handle the numbers of- con:amina:ed, injured and radiation exposed
