LaSalle County Station Unit 2 10 CFR 50.55(e) Final Report 82-08 NRC Docket No. 50-374 References (a): C. W. Schroeder letter to J. G.

Keppler dated September 16, 1982.

(b): C. W. Schroeder letter to J. G.

Keppler dated January 24, 1983.

Dear Mr. Keppler:

On August 17, 1982, Commonwealth Edison Company notified Mr. R. C. Knop of your staff of a potential problem with LaSalle County Station Unit 2 Electrical Penetration Assemblies. Reference (a) provided the required 30 day written interim report. Reference (b) provided an update to that interim report.

The purpose of this letter is to provide you with the final report to the 10 CFR 50.55(e) 82-08 reported on LaSalle Unit 2 electrical penetrations. Please note that LaSalle Unit 1 is not affected because the Unit 1 electrical penetrations were supplied by a different manufacturer.

The interim report update (Reference (b)) stated that the modules which contained #2 and #6 AWG cables would be replaced with modules manufactured by Conax Corporation. In addition, it has now been decided that the modules containing #10 AWG cables will also be replaced. The replacement modules have been received on-site (except for one #2 AWG module) and are to be installed per the site electrical contractor's procedure WI-205, Revision 2; installation of #2 AWG, #6 AWG, and #10 AWG cable modules (including the one yet to be received) is anticipated to be complete by May 1, 1983. Therefore, all of the modules which were manufactured by Bunker Ramo and were designed with a butt-splice on each side of the epoxy module, are being replaced by qualified modules from Conax Corporation. The module replacements will complete the actions required to correct the problem,
