Office of Inspection and Enforcement RII - JPO Region II - Suite 3100 50-321/50-366 101 Marietta Street I&E Bulletin 79-18 Atlanta, Georgia 30303 Attention: Mr. James P. O'Reilly Gentlemen:

Georgia Power Company transmitted on September 20, 1979, a response to Bulletin 79-18, " Audibility Problems Encountered on Evacuation of Personnel from High-Noise Areas". In our response we stated that appropriate corrective action for areas with audibility problems would be determined and implemented prior to the 120-day requirement specified in the bulletin. A design has been approved to install additional visual evacuation signals in those areas identified in our previous response. Materials required for this modification are being expedited; however, it is expected that an additional 90 days will be required for completion. During the interim, it is our belief that the plant emergency procedures are adequate for identification and evacuation of personnel from high-noise areas.
