ENCLOSURE (1)

REPLY TO APPENDIX A 0F NRC INSPECTION REPORTS 50-317/7875 and 50-318/78-19 Within a few minutes after realizing that 21B Safety In,4ection Tank (SIT) level was above the Technical Specification limit, the Control Room Operator (CRO) drained the tank to bring its level within specification.

Additionally, the los readings were circled and comments made on the log sheet.

4 Due to the circunstances of this event, disciplinary action was administered to the CRO and a verbal reprimand was given to the Senior Control Roan Operator (SCRO) who reviewed the 0800-1600 log readings. In addition, the Nuclear Plant Engineer - Operations wrote a letter to all CRO's reviewing this event and reminding them of their responsibilities in this area. A copy was also routed to the Shift Supervisors and SCRO's.

l'ull compliance with the TecLnical Specification was achieved about 1825 on September 5,1978, and immediate corrective steps to avoid further items of non-compliance were completed on September 22, 1978.
