Dear Mr. Keppler:

Commonwealth Edison notified your of fice on October 13, 1982 of a def. :lency in accordance with 10CFR50.55(e) concerning pressure swit nes installed on the RHR system.

These components were furnished as part of the NSSS contract. General Electric Co. has reviewed the situation and has verbally indicated that the pressure rating mismatch is unique to the LaSalle site and further it appears isolated a t LaSalle. Th ese components serve a dual function. Their pressure rating was adequate for their primary function but during steam condensing mode of ,the RHR system, their ratings were inadequate.

The intended corrective action will be to install adequate pressure switches prior to fuel load for Unit 2. It is presently, anticipated that the components will be shipped to the site on or about December 10, 1982. It is expected that they will be installed on Unit 1 by February 1,1983. As indicated this is considered a final report for LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2.

Please address any questions on this matter to this of fice.
