SUMMARY

OF THE APRIL 8, 2014, POINT BEACH PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE 2013 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT RESULTS On April 8, 2014, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Two Creeks Township Hall in Two Creeks, Wisconsin, to discuss the 2013 annual assessment results for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant. Enclosed is a list of attendees for the meeting. A copy of the slides used by the NRCs staff during the meeting is located in ADAMS at Accession Number ML14112A425. The licensee staff did not utilize any slides during their presentation.

At the meeting, the NRC provided an overview of the reactor oversight program, the results of the 2013 annual assessment for Point Beach, and the NRCs inspection plans for 2014. The NRCs presentation was followed by statements from the NextEra Point Beach Site Vice-President which included site priorities, information on the results of the NRC Inspection Procedure 95002, as well as information on current plant status. Cynthia Pederson, the Regional Administrator for the NRCs Region III Office, acknowledged the information provided by the Point Beach officials and noted Point Beach performance improvement opportunities. She emphasized the need for performance improvement in 2014 and highlighted the fact that Point Beach was one of nine plants in the nation assessed in the Degraded Cornerstone Column (Column 3) of the NRCs Action Matrix.

After the business part of the meeting ended, NRC and Point Beach representatives listened to comments and addressed several questions from the public.
