SUMMARY

OF THE APRIL 22, 2010, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE 2009 POINT BEACH END-OF-CYCLE PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On April 22, 2010, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Two Creeks Town Hall in Two Creeks, Wisconsin. The meeting was between NRC representatives and FPL Energy Point Beach, LLC, representatives to discuss the NRCs 2009 End-of-Cycle Assessment of the Point Beach Nuclear Plants safety performance.

The results of that assessment were discussed in a letter to the licensee dated March 3, 2010, (ADAMS ML100610484).

The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC, the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), National ROP results, and the Action Matrix. This was followed by a summary of the NRCs assessment of Point Beach performance in 2009. The NRCs meeting presentation slides can be found in ADAMS at ML101130497, and the licensees slides are at ML101130445. A list of principal meeting attendees can be found in the attached Enclosure.

Mr. Larry Meyer--the Point Beach site vice-president--and members of his staff provided the licensees perspective on the assessment and discussed some of the completed and ongoing efforts at the plant to improve and enhance performance.

After the business portion of the meeting, NRC representatives spoke with a representative of the State of Wisconsin emergency management organization on general issues of interaction between the NRC and the State.
