INTERIM ACCEPTANCE OF OFFSITE DOSE CALCULATION MANUAL, UPDATED THRCUGH REVIS!CN 20 CATAWBA HUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 and 2 (TACs63187/60188,67763/67764,71093/71094)

By letters dated June 24, 1985, October 2,1986 January 6,1987 and February 16 and July 19, 1988, you provided Revisions 6 and 8,12,13 19 and 20, respectively, for the Catawba Offsite Dose Calculation Manual (ODCM).

The review of these submittals by our contractor, EG&G Idaho, Inc. is sumarized in the enclosed Techaical Evaluation Report (TER) EGG-PHY-8214 The NR0 staff agrees with the conclusion of the TER that your revised ODCM uses methods that are, in general, consistent with NRC guidelines. Therefore, your 00CM is acceptable on an interim basis. However, in the TER there are a number of discrepancies and suggestions; scre are typographical *1d cthers are technical. We request that all the items discussed in the conclusion section of this TER be addressed, within six inonths, in the new revision to the ODCH.

We also note that the inforr.ation on these 00CM revisions related to radioactive liquid releases from the turbine building surp is required before we can complete our review of your Technical Specification arendment request dated June 12, '957 pM1121oic4 callis ma omg 3 ge[
