III.J AND III.0 AND ASSOCIATED FIRE PROTECTION FEATURES -
J. M. FARLEY UNITS 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-348 AND 50-364 This letter is to confinn the dates of June 24-28, 1985, for the special inspection of J. M. Farley Units 1 and 2, which were established during the telephone conversation of March 27, 1985, between Mr. J. Woodard, of your staff,
!            and Mr. F. Cantrell, of this office.
The purpose of this inspection is to evaluate Farley Units 1 and 2 for compliance with Sections III.G, III.J and III.0 of Appendix R to 10 CFR 50.                        In addition, this inspection will review the implementation of the Fire Protection Program and the requirements of Operating License paragraphs 2.c.(4) and 2.c.(6) for Unit 1 and Unit 2, respectively. This will be a team type inspection composed of
;            personnel from the NRC Region II office and, based on their availability, i
personnel from NRC's Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.
1 In order for us to properly prepare and perform this type of comprehensive and i            complex inspection, we request that you provide this office with the latest revision to the following additional information by May 24, 1985:
l-            1. Piping and instrumentation (flow) diagrams for hot standby (shutdown) and
!                  cold shutdown systems, alternative or dedicated shutdown and the reactor
:                  coolant pump oil collection system.
;            2. Plant layout and equipment location drawings which identify the physical plant locations of hot standby (shutdown) and cold shutdown equipment.
: 3. Color coded marked-up electrical raceway drawings which identify the cable routing of power and control circuits for those plant systems necessary to achieve and maintain hot standby (shutdown).

: 4. Plant layout drawings which identify fire area delineation and fire protec-tion equipment locations.
: 5. Marked-up plant layout drawings which identify the locations of emergency lighting units.

: 6. Associated. drawings which depict the physical and the seismic design of reactor coolant pump oil collection system.

: 8. Plant Operating Procedures which describe normal hot and cold shutdown from inside the control room, emergency hot and cold shutdown from emergency control stations outside and independent of the control room, and shutdown operations which utilize alternative or dedicated shutdown capability.
: 9. Fire damage control and repair procedures for cold shutdown systems.
In addition to the information requested above, copies of any other analysis and/or evaluation which demonstrate cc,mpliance to Sections III.G, III.J. and III.0 of Appendix R should be available on site for review during this inspec-tion. Appropriate personnel, knowledgeable with respect to those plant systems required for safe shutdown and their capabilities, should be available at the site during this inspection. Also, we request that your staff make the necessary arrangements to permit team members ready access to the radiologically controlled areas of the plant if necessary.
