Response to Generic Letter 99-02 Laboratory Testine of Nuclear-Grade Activated Charcoal Ladies and Gentlemen:
On July 30,1999, SNC responded to the Nuclear Regulatory Commissian (NRC) issued Generic Letter 99-02, " Laboratory Testing of Nuclear-Grade Activated Charcoal." Subsequently, an error was identified in the response to GL 99-02, Requested Action number 2. The efficiency acceptance criteria for the Penetration Room Filtration (PRF) units was listed as 97.5%. The listed acceptance criteria for charcoal laboratory testing efficiency should have been 95%. This J
efficiency value is in agreement with Farley Nuclear Plant Technical Specification amendment j
request dated February 22,1999, as amended by June 30,1999 submittal. The corrected efficiency is based on utilization of ASTM D3803-1989 testing protocol and applying a safety factor of 2.
