By letter dated December 15, 2011, Union Electric Company (Ameren Missouri) submitted an application pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 51 and 10 CFR Part 54, to renew operating license NPF-30 for the Callaway Plant, Unit 1 (Callaway), for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). By letter dated April 23, 2013, the NRC issued its "Safety Evaluation Report (SER) with Open Items related to the License Renewal of Callaway Plant Unit 1," in support of an Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) subcommittee meeting scheduled for May 22,2013. By letter dated May 10, 2013, Ameren Missouri requested to postpone the ACRS subcommittee meeting to a later date due to delays in Callaway'S current refueling outage (RFO) No. 19 and its needs to focus on its completion.

The NRC is aware of Ameren Missouri's activities to support the completion of Callaway's RFO No. 19. The NRC has monitored Ameren Missouri's activities in support of completing Callaway's RFO No. 19 to determine the necessary effort to support the review of additional information as a result of RFO No. 19 completion and will subsequently revise the current schedule to indicate the future milestone dates for the safety review. Enclosed is the staffs revised safety review schedule, with to be determined milestones, for the Callaway license renewal application (LRA). The NRC will continue to follow established review procedures and the enclosed schedule to complete the reviews required by 10 CFR Parts 54 and 51.

UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555"()001 May 30,2013 Mr. Adam C. Heflin, Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer Union Electric Company P.O. Box 620 Fulton, MO 65251

SUBJECT:

SCHEDULE REVISION FOR THE SAFETY REVIEW OF THE CALLAWAY PLANT, UNIT 1, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NO. ME7708)

Dear Mr. Heflin:

By letter dated December 15, 2011, Union Electric Company (Ameren Missouri) submitted an application pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 51 and 10 CFR Part 54, to renew operating license NPF-30 for the Callaway Plant, Unit 1 (Callaway),

for review by the U.S.

A. Heflin -2 If you have any questions on the revised schedule, please contact Mr. Samuel Cuadrado de Jesus, project manager for the Callaway LRA safety review, by telephone at 301-415-2946 or bye-mail at Samuel.Cuadradode*esus Division of License Renewal Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket No. 50-483
