SUMMARY

OF THE FEBRUARY 21, 2007, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSSTHE NMC CONDUCT OF OPERATIONS ACTION PLANOn February 21, 2007, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at theRegion III Office in Lisle, Illinois, with NMC representatives. The purpose of the meeting was todiscuss the actions implemented by NMC Management to improve fleet conduct of operations for the Point Beach, Monticello, Palisades, and Prairie Island Nuclear Plants.Mark Reddemann began the meeting with introductions of plant management. NMC's policyon Fleet Excellence was presented with the pillars of Organizational, Operational, Training, and Equipment Excellence. This was followed by a discussion of the Palisades Auxiliary Feedwater Pump event where the pumps were not in automatic operation. Discussions continued with NMC leadership identifying a need for fleet-wide action which included:a.Reinforcing expectations with operatorsb.Benchmarking with a Fleet task force c.Changing Fleet Procedures d.Training e.Assessments f.MonitoringThe meeting notice can be found in ADAMS at ML070380582 and the licensee's presentationslides can be found in ADAMS at ML070510674.
