SUMMARY
OF THE FEBRUARY 21, 2007, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE NMC CONDUCT OF OPERATIONS ACTION PLAN On February 21, 2007, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Region III Office in Lisle, Illinois, with NMC representatives. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the actions implemented by NMC Management to improve fleet conduct of operations for the Point Beach, Monticello, Palisades, and Prairie Island Nuclear Plants.
Mark Reddemann began the meeting with introductions of plant management. NMCs policy on Fleet Excellence was presented with the pillars of Organizational, Operational, Training, and Equipment Excellence. This was followed by a discussion of the Palisades Auxiliary Feedwater Pump event where the pumps were not in automatic operation.
Discussions continued with NMC leadership identifying a need for fleet-wide action which included:
- a. Reinforcing expectations with operators
- b. Benchmarking with a Fleet task force
- c. Changing Fleet Procedures
- d. Training
- e. Assessments

Before adjourning the meeting, the NRC provided the opportunity for members of the audience to ask questions.
