Control Room Design Review (CRDR) Final Summary Report (FSR). This revision is being submitted within the time frame stated in the FSR, dated liecember 31,1986,and per discussions with Mr. R. Ramirez and Mr. E. Sylvester of your staff on Ncvember 13,1986.

{\ The attached FSR revision provides the proposed dispositions for those Human

> Engineering Discrepancies (HED) which were still under review at the time of the CRDR FSR submission. Appendix A of the report incorporates the proposed dispositions for these HEDs. Section 6.3 groups the HEDs dispositioned for corrective actions into specific projects and provides an implementation schedule for completion of each project. Apper. dix A and Section 6 have also been revised to incorporate any changes to i

previously reported HED dispositions. The revised pages'are paginated such that they- ,

directly replace the corresponding pages contained in the CRDR FSR originally submitted. Revisions are indicated by the vertical line in the right margin beside the

(' changed areas.

The proposed corrective actions and implementation schedules were developed by taking into consideration the HED priority, integration of the corrective action with other

. NUREG-0737, Supplement i activities, CP&L resources, and previously scheduled
l. projects /commitrnents. Should a revision to this schedule be needed, we will promptly notify the NRC of any changes.

SUMMARY

p This document is Revision 1 to the Final Summary Report (FSR) which' described the ' activities that ,were conducted for the.

Control Room Design Review (CRDR) for Carolina Power '& Light-Company's Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit 1 and 2 (BSEP).

This-' revision completes ~a commitment to~the NRC-contained in the CRDR FSR. The FSR was submitted to the NRC by letter to the Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, from A. B. Cutte'r (CP&L),

dated. December'31,.1986, Serial No..NLS-86-449.

The Product- of the CRDR is the identification of Human Engineering Discrepancies :(HED) . An HED. is a. departure- f rom some benchmark- .o f system design suitability for the roles and

/"3 capabilities of' the human - operator. A total of.493 HEDs were identified land ~are listed in Appendix.A,. "BSEP HED Summary".

Eection.-6 'of- this report lists those HEDs contained in-

~ Appendix A, which are dispositioned for corrective action. The

-IlEDs ' are grouped per specific projects. Section 6 also provides the~ current implementation schedule'for the HED corrections.

Appendix'A has been revised to incorporate descriptions of the proposed dispositions for those HEDs which were under review at

' the ' time of the CRDR FSR submission.

for corrective action are grouped per specific project and listed l

-in Section 6.3 of this report. Section 6.3 also provides completion dates for each project. Also addressed in Section 6 i

corrective actions originally reported have been changed.

Should any . changes to the proposed HED dispositions or i implementation schedules as described in the FSR be necessary, CP&L will' promptly notify the NRC. Please note that CP&L REV. 1 b

considers-Section.6 to be the commitment section of this report, and-no statements contained in'any other portion of thisLreport constitute- commitments for future action by CP&L. 28 . projects and.theiriimplementation schedules are identified in Section 6.

i SECTION 6.0 IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE f.

6.1 INTRODUCTION

HEDs that have. corrective actions scheduled for completion (either partial or complete) are. outlined in Section 6.2. The schedule 'was. developed taking. into consideration the HED priority, integrat' ion of the ' corrective' action with other

NUREG-0737, Supplement 1- activities, CP&L' resources and previously scheduled projects / commitments.- The schedule will result in a timely, efficient and cost. effective implementation of the projects.

Section 6.3 outlines the projects and HEDs that' have been

' evaluated and for which corrective actions have'been scheduled since the original submittal of this Final Summary' Report on December 31, 1986.
