Docket Nos. 50-445-2 and 50-446-2 l

Dear Administrative Judges:

l This letter is in response to Mr. Roisman's letter to the Board dated April 16, l 1985, in which a scheduling conference is requested.

l l We agree that a conference (" face to face") to discuss the issues raised by Mr. Roisman, as well as other relevant matters, is appropriate. We believe,

however, that the timing suggested (i.e., "no later than the end of April") is l somewhat premature. The NRC Staff has to date filed three SSER's (7,8, and 9) l relating to the Technical Review Team effort and additional supplements are anticipated within the next few weeks. In addition, Applicants' CPRT is actively addressing all TRT and design adequacy issues, will shortly file response plans to some, and will be prepared to promptly respond to all remaining issues as soon as the other SSER's are received and reviewed.

0 Administrative Judges April 22,1985 Page Two We believe that pursuing these efforts should result in a more meaningful conference thereafter. Applicants will propose a case management plan for con-sideration by both Boards in these dockets within the next few days.

Respectfully,
