l l TROJAN NUCLEAR PLANT I SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES I l

l During the third quarter of 1998, Transition Period activities continued to follow the schedule in  !

- Revision 4 of the Trojan Decommissioning Plan.  !

The Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) project continues. Several pieces of L

equipment were received, including the impact limiters, welding equipment, and concrete cask forms. The Transfer Station was erected. The basket coatings test program was completed.  ;

Responses to questions in support of the State rulemaking were processed. Spent fuel is l expected to be loaded beginning in the spring of 1999 and completed in early 2000. Procedures l l continue to be developed in preparation for the ISFSI project.

The Reactor Vessel and Internals Removal (RVAIR) project continues on schedule. Review of l the Safety Analysis Report (SAR) by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff was completed and their recommendation sent to the NRC commissioners for action. If approved, the l project is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 1999. Design activities, l procedures preparation, and related field activities for the RVAIR project are continuing.

Control rod drive mechanism housings were removed from the reactor vessel head area. Outside activities in preparation for the heavy lift contractor commenced and most were completed during the third quarter.

)

l Removal of components in the Containment, Auxiliary, and Fuel Buildings continues as part of l ongoing decommissioning activities. Installation of a modular spent fuel pool cooling and clean-up system was completed, allowing early decommissioning of permanent plant systems.
