- Attachment to CPY-020-97 August 14,1997 Page 4 of 5 TROJAN NUCLEAR PLANT SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES Transition Period activities fell behind schedule during the second quarter of 1997 due to delays in the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) project. Full-scale decontamination and dismantlement is still expected to complete by late 2001.

The ISFSI project experienced delays due to emergent regulatory issues. Fuel loading is expected to begin in mid-1998 and complete in mid-1999. The ISFSI storage pad was redesigned and fill material was placed on the site in preparation for slab construction.

Resolution of design issues raised by the NRC concerning the service pad and transfer station continues. Activities at the spent fuel pool included removing a storage rack and vacuuming the pool.

The Reactor Vessel and Intemals Removal (RVAIR) project continued towards a projected mid-1998 completion. A Request for Additional Information (RAl) from the NRC on waste classification for the reactor vessel and intemals was received and a response was submitted.

The containment tendon removal contractor completed work. Concrete cutting activities were started and preparing work areas for reactor " ssel pipe removal continued.-

To facilitate radioactive waste processing, a decontamination area and a radioactive waste packaging area was established in the old Demineralizer Building. A radiation survey area was established in the Turbine Building.

Other decommissioning activit es included continued removal of components in the i

Containment, Auxiliary, and Fuel Buildings.
