Enclosed is the NPDES report for the Trojan Nuclear Plant for March 1988. Also enclosed are data required to be submitted in addition to that on standard NPDES forms.

The plant maintained power operation throughout the month.

The following sewage plant effluent limits were exceeded during March:

Release Limit The violations are the result of high 9ewage plant influent flow due to ground water infiltration f rom heavy rainf all and the arrival of temporary wctkers on site for refueling outage preparation. Flow at the sewage plant averaged 31,000 GPD with a design maximum of 25,000 GPD.

An inspection of the plant sewage lines was conducted from March 21 to March 30. Several areas of damaged piping or manway basins with significant groundwater inleakage were identified.

Department of Environmental Quality April 11, 1988 Page 2 The BTU monitor for the main plant outfall has been out of service since May 11, 1987. Work continues on the development of a replacement instrument. In the interim, manual calculations are being performed to verify BTU output.

The main plant outfall pH monitor was out of service from 1140 to 1205 hours0.0139 days <br />0.335 hours <br />0.00199 weeks <br />4.585025e-4 months <br /> on March 15 for routine maintenance.
