Dear Sir:
PECO Energy Company (PECO Energy) has determined that a revision to the dates of the second inservice inspection (ISI) interval for Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station (PBAPS) Unit,'
3 is needed to effectively implemert the requirements of Section XI of the ASME Boner and -
Pressure Vessel Code. The revision is necessary to allow the end of the interval to envelope a scheduled refueling outage.
in accordance with 10CFR50.55a(g)(4), the second interval ISI program for PBAPS, Unit 3 conforms to the 1980 Edition of the Code through Winter 1981 addenda ' This edition permi's an interval to be extended or decreased by as much as one year to aNow for outage correlation (paragraph IWA-2400(c)).
As indicated in Reference 1, the second ISI interval dates for PBAPS, Unit 3 were revised to the time period of December 23,1986 to August 14,1997 to account for an extended outage on that unit and to reconcle adjustments made to the first and second interval lengths (Reference 2).
The unit's eleventh refueling outage is presently scheduled to occur during the September,1997 to October,1997 time frame. Because the Code permits the ISl interval to be adjusted for extended outages and permits an additional adjustment by as much as one year for outage correlation, the second ISl Interval wil be extended to envelope the eleventh refueling outage, and to align with the PBAPS, Unit 2 end of the second interval, which is presently scheduled for November 4,1997.
