SHIELDING MODIFICATIONS VIRGIL C. SUF0fER NUCLEAR STATION, Intermediate Building Pipe Chase The height and thickness of the chase curbs have been increased to provided adequate pest-accident shielding of the pipe shine. A personnel ladder has been relocated to eliminate a concrete cutout from permitting radiation shine to elevation 412'0".

Boron Injection Tank A two-foot concrete wall has been placed across the doorway to reduce direct radiation shine into the adjoining auxiliary building area. To climinate potentially high level scattering the wall was extended northward to the cubicle wall.

Auxiliary Building Elevation 425' 6" Pipe Chase Placement of 8-inch concrete wall and additional chase curb shielding were used to eliminate direct shine to auxiliary building elevation 436' 0". - -

Charging Pump Cooling Units Installation of lead and concrete shiciding will shield personnel from the piping located in the cubicle.

Cubicle 12-09 of Auxiliary Building Placement of lead and steel shadow shield will provide radiation protection of the cubicle floor area required for personnel access travel routes.

RHR/ Spray Pump Rooms and Cooling Units The sump line from the RHR/ Spray Pump Room to the waste holdup tank has been re-routed to provide sufficient slope with a high point within the pump cubicle and a vacuum breaking vent Jine. This will allow the line to be emptied by. gravity draining into the waste holdup tank upon shutoff of the sump pump.

Sampling System Additional shielding will be added in the area of the sampling system upon com-pletion of the design.
