Subject:

Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Docket No. 50/395 Operating License No. NPF-12 Response to Generic Letter 90-01 Gentlemen:

Attached is the South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) response to Generic Letter 90-01 concerning estimates of time spent by managers on inspections and audits. Please note that the guidance provided by NUMARC to the Board of Directors on February 16, 1990, was utilized in this response.

Item 5 of the survey provides the average number of hours that a single manager would spend on the type of inspection described. A total number of potentially affected managers for each category is also provided. Although no formal records are maintained on this subject, SCE&G has attempted to provide best estimates for the hours involved.

If you have any questions, please advise.

Very truly yours.
