Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

SUBJECT:

Confirmation Letter of Immediately Reportable Event This letter confirms the telephone conversation between Mr. R. M. Poulk, Regulatory Specialist, and Mr. Austin Hardin of your office at 1340 on Octo-ber 21, 1980, concerning an immediately reportable event per IE Bulletin 80-17 at the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant.

At 1500 on October 20, 1980, while performing periodic maintenance on the Unit No. 2 RCIC flow controller FIC-3325 at the remote shut down panel, it was determined that this controller would not operate in the automatic position.

An investigation determined that a printed circuit board in the flow control circuitry had a bad solder connection. This connection was immediately repaired, and the flow controller was restored to normal operation.

Very truly yours, A. C. Tollison, Jr. General Manager Brunswick Steam Electric Plant RMP/mcg cc: Mr. D. L. Bensinger Mr. C. S. Bohanan Mr. B. J. Furr Mr. J. M. Johnson Mr. S. McManus l
