SPECIAL REPORT PER TECilNICAL SPECIIICATION 3.7.7.2
AND PURSUANT TO TECIINICAL SPECIFICATION 6.9.2 (1-SR-89-004)

Gentlemen:

During Unit 1 power operation a limiting condition for operation (LCO) vas established on November 30, 1989, for the sprinkler system of the units' north and south Residual lleat Removal and the liigh Pressure Coolant Injection Room.

This was done to permit replacement of the sprinkler heads with heads having a higher temperature rating. Due to a need for an engineering resolution of some design concerns the specified 14 day time frame of the LCO was exceeded on December 14, 1989.

A resolution was determined and the LCO was cancelled on December 25, 1989.

Very truly yours.
