/

Reference is made to your May 30, 1985, memorandum to me concerning the subject 10 CFR 2.206 Petition filed by the Government Accountability Project (GAP).

to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and the Petition. Portions of the cover letter and the Petition elude to inadequate performance on the part of NRC staff. However, none of the four items identified by GAP in the f cover letter, which requests action on the part of the Commission, require i action by the Office of Inspector and Auditor (01A) at this time. . Rather, GAP has requested the Commission to require an explanation from both the Office of f Nuclear Reactor Renulation and Region IV regarding their alleged failure to address certain allegations concerning Wolf Creek Nuclear Station.

Based on our review of the Petition and cover letter, we plan no further action in this matter and consider this inquiry closed. If the Commission wishes to pursue this matter further after reviewing the NRC staff responses to the allegations 01A will reopen this inquiry, ce; Commission (5)
