,, It has come to my attention that the Nuclear Regule.itory Commission, in considering approval of the Clinch River Breeder Reactor, is thinking of not requiring a revised

[i J, and updated Environmental Impact Statement in reaching this decision.

I am concerned as a citizen of this state and also as a member of the Tennessee Legislature that certain factors could be overlooked if a revised Environmental Statement is not prepared, thereby thus increasing the future health risks of many of my fellow Tennesseans.

It is my understanding that the most recent Environmental Impact Statement was issued in 1977. I am not completely informed as to the changes in NRC regulations during the last five years, but I am certain that as a result of the l Three Mile Island accident, substantial changes in the I regulations must have been made which were not considered in 1977.

In light of this five-year time span and in light of findings made during the administration of President Carter, I would appreciate knowing for my safety and the safety of other l Tennesseans that the NRC will issue a supplement to the last Environmental Impact Statement and will provide organizations and private citizens an opportunity to comment.
