- ' u In the Matter of the Clinch River Breeder /y Reactdr Plant Limited Site Preparation Work Authorization Permit I am writing this letter on behalf of the City Council of the City of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. As you are well aware, the site for the Clinch River Breeder Reactor is located within our city. The Oak R . idge City Council has gone on record many times as supporting the construction of this facility on the Clinch River site. It has been our conviction that the breeder reactor project is vitally necessary in the future development of our Nation's energy technologies, and we continue to hold that conviction.
For this reason, the Oak Ridge City Council, sitting in regular session on January 4,1982, voted to transmit to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission our statement of support for the Department of Energy's request to expedite the process for granting a limited site preparation work authorization permit, thus enabling site preparation for the Clinch River Breeder Reactor Plant to begin this spring. It is our position at this time that the interests of the City of Oak Ridge will be adequately addressed during the regular Nuclear Regulatory Commission deliberations prior to issuance of construction and operation authorizations.
Mr. Chairman, on behalf of the Oak Ridge City Council, I urge you to give favorable consideration to the- Department of Energy's request for a-limited site preparation work authorization permit, immediately.
