SEQUOYAB SUCLEAR PLANT SPECIAL REPORT 81-5 UNIT 1 Event Description Door A62, located in the Auxiliary Building between the Unit 1 valve gallery and the Component Cooling Pump area, has been non-functional for a period in excess of seven (7) days.

Prni, able j Cause The firedoor forms part of the Interim t.uxiliary Building Secondary Containment Enclosure (IABSCE) boundary which remains in effect until completion of Unit 2 construction. During periods of preoperational testing on Unit 2, the dP across the door is extremely high and the direction of the dP is not consistent. During these periods of high dP, the door cannot be closed without causing damage. At present, the door frame ha been damaged beyond repair and prevents the door from ccmpletely closing and latching.

Corrective Actions Fire watch coverage was initiated in accordance with limiting condition for oparation 3./.12.a and will remain in ef fect until the door is repaired. A new door frame has been ordered and the door will be repaired upon delivery.

The periods of high dP cannot be alleviated until preoperational testing of Unit 2 is completed.
