SUMMARY

OF JULY 9, 2019, PUBLIC MEETING WITH DOMINION TO DISCUSS OPEN PHASE CONDITION RAI RESPONSES On July 9, 2019, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a public meeting 1 with Dominion Energy Nuclear Connecticut Inc. and Virginia Electric and Power Company (Dominion).

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the recently provided RAI response 2 regarding a license amendment request (LAR)3 for the North Anna Power Station, Units 1 and 2 (North Anna) to install a voltage unbalance protection system. During the meeting, the NRC staff reviewed four specific clarifications regarding the RAI response that had been provided to Dominion.4 Through the discussion, it was identified that additional information would need to be provided to address the four clarifications.

The NRC staff indicated that it would slightly revise the questions to more clearly articulate the information need and provide a draft RAI to Dominion after the meeting. No regulatory decisions were made. Following the discussion, an opportunity was afforded to any other participants who wished to ask questions or make comments.

One comment was received regarding the scope of conditions that the amendment should consider.
