Based on the engineering design review, the offsite plan reviews, and the results of the July 14, 1987, public telephone survey,.FERA, has determined that the alert and notification system installed amund the Sheamn Harris/Revision 1, and FEMA-43.'Ihezefoze, there is now zeasonable assurance that the system is adecpate to promptly alert and notify the public in the event of a radiological emezgency at.the site.'Ihe caveat on the alert and natificatian system cantained in the March 28, 1989, Title 44 CFR, Part 350, appmval of the North Camlina Emergency Response Plan site-specific to the Sheazon Harris Nucleaz Power Plant, is naw reneved.%be Honorable James G.Martin, Governor of North Carolina, has been advised of this appzoval.Notwithstanding this appmval, FEME recammends that the State of North Carolina, the local jurisdictions, and the Camlina'~'and Light Company consider increasing the frecpency of the fully tests of the Sheamn Harris alert and notification system to once a month.FEMA believes that additional full~cle tests, at a monthly fzecuency, would pmvide an added d~of assurance of the continued zeadiness ami operability of the:Qmazun Hazris alert and notification systan.agency Management Agency ngton, D.C.20472 NS 3 IS90 iC~4C/Q"L t>~!~el/.f~'2-z'c'-
