Apply a U.L. listed fire retardant coating, suitable for protection of structural members, to the turbine building columns adjacent to the lube oil reservoirs.

Licensee's Response The licensee understande this position was deleted by the staff and appears in a new position, PF-19, and will be addressed in the response to new position PF-19.

PF-40 Combustible Gas Cylinders - Fire Protection Staff Position All cylinders, which contain combustible fluids and are connected to piping systems should be provided with excess flow valves.

Licensee's Response Agree to provide excess fica valves on all large cylinders where these valves are available. Do not agree on smaller cylinders for lab use where excess flow valves are not available. As a substitute, we have ordered flow limiting valves which can be preset to a desired flow rate.

PF-41 Fire System Valve Supervision Staff Position Valves controlling the flow of fire water should be pro-vided with electrical supervision or chains and locks or tamper-proof seals, with administrative procedures which assure inspection of valves per NFPA 26.

Licensee's Response Valves controlling the flow of fire water will be provided with standard Prairie Island seals of the type used on other applications in safety-related systems. Such seals can be removed with-out damaging the seal and by strict definition, may not be completely tamper proof.

PI-42 Fire Hose Staff Position All interior unlined linen hose should be replaced with 100% polyester synthetic tube fire hose (300 psi test pressure). (F.M.

or U.L. listed) suitable for use with pin racks by June 1981.

Licensee's Response Agree to replace hose with a light weight hose that is suitable for pin rack storage and periodic pressure testing.

PF-43 Fire Brigade Equipment Storage Staff Pcsition Provide a suitabic storage area for fire brigade equip-ment, at a central location, containing the following equipment:

--10 sets of fire fighting protective clothing cssisting of turnout coats with removable liners, taigh length boots, gloves and fire fighter style helmets.

--six (6) complete self-contained breathing units with two spare cylinders for each unit and with the spare cylinders for all other units (or at other strategic locations).

--one (1) 1 " metering type nozzle with side and narrow stream options
