I PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket Nos. 50-282 License Nos. DPR-42 i 50-306 DPR-60 License Amendment Request Dated March 19,1999 Operating License Changes Attached is a request for change to the Facility Operating Licenses for Units 1 and .2 of the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant (PINGP). This request is submitted in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR Part 50, Section 50.90.

This License Amendment Request proposes removal of the dates of two NRC S,afety Evaluation Reports (SER's) and correction of the date of one SER listed in section 2.C.4," Fire Protection," of the Operating License for both units. The two SER's (references to which are proposed to be removed from the Operating License) did not significantly affect the PINGP fire protection program. One of these SER's corrected some typographical errors in the fire protection section of the PINGP Technical Specifications (which has subsequently been deleted). The other SER we propose to l remove changed reporting requirements to be consistent with Generic Letter 83-43.

These SER's did not approve any significant part of the PINGP fire protection program. ,

Thus, it is requested references to these SER's be removed. I Exhibit A contains a description of the proposed changes, the reasons for requesting the changes, the supporting safety evaluation and significant hazards determination.

Exhibit B contains current Prairie Island Operating License pages marked up to show the proposed changes. Exhibit C contains the revised Operating License pages.
