SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT, LICENSE AMENDMENT APPLICATION DATED MAY 25, 1988, RE REVISED RADIOLOGICAL CONTINGENCY PLAN, DATED APRIL 29, 1988

Background

t hat the changes do not reduce the effectiveness of the Plan and that NMSS isis auth notified of the changes within 6 months of the change. The April 29, 1988, submittal served to notify NMSS of the change, The May 25, 1988, application proposes to update reference to the Plan in the license.

Di scus sic.n The changes provide for expanded definitions of a Local Emergency and an Unusual Event, specified frequency for training of health physics personnel for reentry surveys, and updating of names and procedures. W found that these changes do not decrease the effectiveness of the Plan and aFe authorized by the license.

Conclusion /Reconnendation The staff agrees with the W finding that the changes do not reduce the effectiveness of the Plan and reconnends that the license be : mended to update the references. This action will be taken for the convenience of the Commission to maintain up-to-date references in the license.
