SHUTDOWN FOR GENERATOR REPAIRS At about 4 a.m. (EDT) on May 18, 1988, the licensee began to shut the unit down from 100 percent power to repair the hydrogen seal oil system for the main generator. Earlier,
-the level controller in the system failed and dumped up to 600 gallons of oil into the main generator casing. The licensee anticipates an outage of at least three days to repair the seal oil system and inspect the main generator for effects of the seal oil. (In June 1987 the main generator bushin coolant to the bushings.)gs failed as a result of seal oil blocking the flow of hydrogen The resident inspectors are monitoring the licensee's activities.
The State of Ohio will be notified.
