PROPOSED EXPANSION OF EMERGENCY PLANNING ZONE The Cuyahoga County (Ohio) Comission (Cuyahoga County includes Cleveland) has proposed to three other counties in the vicinity of the Perry Nuclear Power Station that the Emergency Planning Zone for the plant be extended beyond the present 10-mile radius. The current plar.ning zone includes portio.'s of the other three counties.

The Cuyahoga County Comissioners have also requested a meeting with Ohio Governor Richard Coleste to discuss emergency planning and to ask the governor to petition the Nuclear R gulatory Comission "to delay putting the Perry Plant on line until we have an effective plan for evacuation."

There has been extensive local news media interest in the Comissioners' proposal.

Tha State of Ohio is aware of this matter.

Region III (Chicago) received initial news media inquiries on June 5, 1986. Copies of the C:unty Comissioners' requests were obtained at 1 p.m. (CDT), June 6,1986. This information is current as of that time.
