UNSCHECULED SHUTDOWN FOR MORE THAN 48 HOURS Unit 2 ' scrammed from 95*; power on January 24, 1986 after the E-2 diesel generator (DG) tripped when loaded with certain emergency buses (reference daily report of January 24).
Licsnsee investigation has determired that the DG trip was due to a mechanical failure of the scavenging air blower. Debris from the blower caused additional damage and the licensee estimates that the necessary repair activities will take approximately seven days. Additional details may be found in the January 27 morning report. Unit 2 will remain in cold shutdown until the E-2 DG is operable.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been notified.
