effective imediately. Unit 3 began a controlled shutdown from 100% reactor power at about 11:40 a.m. The order requires Unit 3 to be in a cold condition within 36 hours4.166667e-4 days <br />0.01 hours <br />5.952381e-5 weeks <br />1.3698e-5 months <br />.

At 3:18 p.m., Unit 3 was manually scramed in accordance with procedures. Unit 2 is currently in a scheduled refueling outage; core offload is in prearess and is about 50%

complete. On March 24, 1987, NRC Region I, received information that control room personnel had been observed sleeping while on duty. On March 24, 1987 the NRC began a 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> inspection coverage of the Peach Bottom contiol room, and special safety investigation of licensed activities, which is still ongoing. To date the ,

investigation has established that licensed reactor operators have fo; the past five months periodically slept or have been otherwise inattentive to licensed dytte. and that shift supervision and plant management were aware of the situation anditook no action.
