Information concerning our application for a tenporary ameniment to License No. R-113 an1 repairs to the tank liner ,
of the Geological Survey TRIGA Mark I reactor (GSTR) . )
We have coniucted experiments to determine the concentrations of j radionuclides in our tank water in onier to know the quantities being release 1 to the environment. We fini the concentrations of nuclides expected in the tank mter. for which MPC levels are listel in 10 CFR 20, to be less than 2 times MPC. After patching the tank liner,- the rate of leakage' was reluced to 300 ml per leur.
The management of the Geological Survey is cannittal to repair the reactor tank as soon as possible. We plan to install a new aluminun tank liner inside the existing tank. The new liner will be constructal in a manner similar to the original tank liner, except it will be made smaller to allos it to be insertal inside with a dry annular space between the two. A contract has been awarded fbr the engineering design of the new tank liner.
We plan to install this new liner un3er 10 CPR 50.59.
