Dear Mr. Adams:

~
Your' office issued a revision to our facility license (Docket 50-274) late.last year so that we could receive reactor fuel from the Berkeley facility.
This revision increased our allowable fuel'from 5 kg to:.9 kg, with the provision that we would return j
the limit to 5.kg'after we had shipped our old fue3 back to^ DOE.
. Political problems with the Berkeley fuel disposition prevented us from' receiving-that fuel, although we were able to receive a i
smaller amount from the Michigan State facility.
We'are hoping j
to acquire more fuel'from another TRIGA facility to give us the 4
same net-effect as receiving the Berkeley fuel.
The end result l
of this is that.our fuel movement plans have'been significantly l
+
delayed and we have no definite schedule yet as to when we will be below 5 kg of fuel.on site..
We will keep you informed of our
.' progress and will apply to return our fuel possession limit to 5 kg as soon as we are able.
We also appreciate your patience and
-[
understanding in this matter.
I u
Sincerely, 7 'jf
