By letter of November 14, 1983 we rtquested the licensee to provide a status on each item.
The licensee responded by letter of November 28, 1983. We request that you audit and verify the licensee's actions on items 1, 2, 9 and 12 as discussed on December 5,1983 by H. Schierling with T. Bishop.
We request that you complete this audit by December 14, 1983 so that the results can be included in our next SER. Supplement.

SUBJECT:
NUCLEAR PLANT QUALITY ALLEGATIONS MADE TO LOCAL TV STATION A former velding inspector at Bostrom Berg :n Metal Products Company of Oakland, California, has contacted a San Francisco television station, KGD-TV (ABC), with allegatiois that he f alsified various inspection documentation on f abricated metal products sold to Diablo Canyon, South Texas, Comanche Peak, and an unidentified WPPSS project. The television station has centacted Region V and Bostrom Bergen concerning the allegations but has not yet aired a story.
The TV reporter contacted the Region V Public Af f' airs Officer about the allegations on the afternoon of December 6.
The reportar put the alleger lu cuutact with the Dieuctor. of the Region V Office of Investigations.
On Dece=ber 7,1983, an executive of Bostrom Bergen contacted the Region V duty officer.
Ile snid that Bostro::t Bergen had been confronted with these allegations by a TV reporter several days earlier.
He said the Company has conducted an investigation which ha.s largely refuted the allogationc.
The Region V inspection team at Diablo Canyon looking into other allegations has been Ande aware of the new charges. The Region IV Vendor Inspector Branch has been notified.
