The attached report of a special inspection conducted at the subject facility on April 21-23, 1970, to review previously reported operating difficulties with the control rod drive system
- is forwarded for information.
As you are aware, these matters were discussed by Con Ed at a meeting with DRL on May 14, 1970. The surveillance requirements and limitations for subsequent drive operation are reflectdd in a letter from DRL to the licensee dated May 20, 1970.** Conformance with these requirements was determened by our inspectors during an inspection at the site on May 19-21, 1970.
(C0 Report No. 219/70-5) 1 One item of interest noted during this inspection was the extent of drive damage noted during the October 1969 internal filter removal program.
