Pneumatic Overload-Test i
~
3 The downcomers from'the-dry well into the' toroidal i
suppression chamber had been sealed with welded caps.. ' Both -
y+
doors of the airlock were closed.
The airlock was at at-
.[
mospheric pressure.
Pumping of-air'into the dry well had
'}
commenced at 1700 on November ~12, 1965.
The pressure t
reached the? overload pressure of 71.3'psig'at 0550 on November'13, 1965, and was. held there until 0620.
The j
' dry well pressure was then lowered to the design value.of i
62 psig.
The airlock was then pressurized to 71.3 psig and held there for approximately half an hour.
}
i The pressures were indicated on three'O - 100 psig l
Bourdon-tube, Dinagauge pressure gauges.
The_ pressures were also recorded-on a Foxboro' recorder.
The recorder was l
tagged with a Chicago Bridge and Iron' Company calibration tag which reads " Calibrated at Hillside by C.W. Beader -
Range 0 - 100. psi; calibrated at 72, True O PSI gauge l
reads 0; Caution:.Make No Field Adjustments".
The test was witnessed by the following:

Airlock-Interlock l
The airlock interlock.was observed.to be a. strictly
?
mechanical device.. There are handwheels'for opening either door inside the airlock and on each end of the airlock.
Defeat of the mechanical interlock requires removal of a cover plate over the interlock mechanism and discon-nection of -a shaft within.
