! Report Date:' January 25, 1982 I Occurrence Date: December 26, 1981 Facility: Oconee Unit 2, Seneca, South Carolina Identification of Occurrence: Channel 'A' BWST level instrumentation inoperable.

Conditions Prior to Occurrence: 30% FP Description of Occurrence: On December 26, 1981 the BWST channel 'A' level instrumentation was declared inoperable due to erratic indication in the control room.

Apparent Cause of Occurrence: The apparent cause of this occurrence could not be determined'due to the intermittent occurrence of the erratic indication. There has been no recurrence of the erratic indication.

Analysis of Occurrence: Channel 'B' BWST leve1' instrumentation was operable during this event. The BWST level was maintained within Technical Specifica-

. tion limits, ensuring an adequate supply of water for emergency cooling.

Therefore, the health and safety of the public wenanot affected by this

! incident.

a Corrective Action: The instrument string check was performed and "as found" data was within Technical Specification limits. The instrument was returned to service and declared operable.
