-I appreciate the opportunity the NRC staff provided Duke to describe' our nuclear niant Design. Basis Documentation (DBD) program on' July 28, 1989. I believe the meeting was very beneficial in communicating our respective thoughts and ideas on the import topic.
]
During the meeting, we discussed an appropriate method of reporting findings resulting.from the DBD program.
It was'also agreed that I would submit the details of.this process to the NRC.
As we discussed, I agree to submit an LER.for each finding identified during the DBD program here at Duke. The LER's will be prepared and submitted in accordance j
with 10CFR 50.73 and NUREG 1022, as supplemented. A single LER supplement will be sent at-completion of the DBD program covering final resolution of each LER.
I also note that the NUMARC Working Group on Design Basis Documentation will be developing a statement on deportability. When a position is established, we will follow the NUMARC lead.
