The breaker was immediately reset, and upon reclosure, the "480 Volt Ground" alarm was received on the control board.
Investigation revealed the ground to be on BIT heater channel "B". The heater channel was declared inoperable at 2025 hours0.0234 days
0.563 hours
0.00335 weeks
7.705125e-4 months
on June 5,1983.
This event resulted in operation in a degraded mode permitted by a limiting
. condition for operation as defined by Technical Specification 3.3.1.2.h which
, is reportable pursuant to 6.9.2.b.2. The redundant heater channel was operable and capable of maintaining the proper BIT temperature. There was no threat to the public health and safety.
II. CORRECTIVE ACTION Examination of BIT heater "B" revealed that the heater had burned out and shorted to ground. The heater was replaced and declared operable at 0530 hours0.00613 days
0.147 hours
8.763227e-4 weeks
2.01665e-4 months
on June 6,1983.
