NARRATIVE
SUMMARY
Month - October'1989-Catawba Unit 1 began the month of October operating at 100% full power. -The e unit _ operated with no significant reductions in power until 1810 on 10/24 when a power reduction was commenced to bring the unit off-line to repair a main ,
turbine condenser tube. leak. The unit was held at 16% power at 0135 on 10/25 ,
due to inability to open steam generator "1A" feedwater bypass valve. The power reduction was resumed at 0710 on 10/25, and the unit was off-line at 0824 on-10/25,- The reactor was critical at 0130 on 10/27, and the turbine .
generator was placed on-line at 1510 on 10/27. The resulting power increase was stopped r: 21% power from 1730 on.10/27 to 1951 on 10/27 for a main feedwater nozzle swap-and a shift turnover. Another hold at 46% power was initiated at 0200 on 10/28.due to cooling tower "1A" breaker work. A power
. increase was commenced'at 1040 on 10/29. A power hold was initiated at 91%
power-at 2300 on 10/29 per dispatcher request. A power increase was commenced-at 0254 on 10/30, and the unit reached 100% full power at 1301 on 10/30. The
- unit operated at 100% full power for the remainder of the month.
