Dear Mr. Denton:

Pursuant to the provisions of 3.D.b. of the Marble Hill Nuclen Generating Station Construction Permits No. CPPR-17 0 and CPPR-171, datea April 4, 1978, PSI has met with Louisville Water Company in order to designate the closest Louisville Water Company water intake for the proposed radiological monitoring program. The enclosed LWC letter has designated the surface water intake of the B. E. Payne Water Treatment Plant -

(previously called Harrod's Creek) located at Ohio River Mile 594.65 as the location to conduct pre-operational monitoring. PSI agrees with this designation and requests approval by the NRC staff.

As specified in the minutes of our August 13, 1979 meeting, the Louisville Water Company transmits the following information:

1. The submerged surface water intake of the B. E. Payne Water Treat-ment Plant is located at Ohio River Mile 594.65*, approximately 125 feet off of the Kentucky normal pool shoreline. The intake location is marked by a large warning sign on the Kentucky shore, which is clearly visible from the river. This intake is listed with the Kentucky Department of Natural Resources and Environmen-tal Protection, Bureau of Land Management, as Water Withdrawal Permit #786. .

Chis intake is the closest Louisv41'e Water Company intake to the proposed Marble Hill Nuclear Generating Station. It is at this location that the Louisville Water Company desires to coni .t the pre-operational monitoring.

  • Measured as the distance downstream from Pittsburg.
2. The surface water intake structure for the Crescent Hill Treatment Plant is located at Chio River Mile 600.6, approximately 100 feet from the Kentucky shcreline. The intake structure is made of stone and protrudes vertically 55' above the normal pool stage.

The structure is connected to the Kentucky shore by an elevated walkway. This intake is listed with the Kentucky Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Bureau of Land Management, as Water Withdrawal Permit 40100.

3. The Louisville Water Company designates as the official contact with PSI for pre-operational monitoring program:
