SUMMARY

OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON MAY 19, 2004, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY CONCERNING ACTIVITIES ON BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1, 2 AND 3, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NOS. MC1704, MC1705 AND MC1706)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) the applicant held a telephone conference call on May 19, 2004, regarding the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant Units 1, 2 and 3 (BFN) license renewal application. The discussion was focused on the annual update submittals required by 10 CFR 54.21(b); the NRCs audit of the applicants scoping and screening methodology scheduled for the week of June 7, 2004; and the process for request for additional information (RAI) regarding the review of the application.

The participants discussed the expectations for the annual submittals and how the submittals could be useful for the staffs review of the application. The participants confirmed the NRCs audit, as well as the participants, scheduled for June 7-11, 2004 at TVAs corporate offices in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The conference call was also used to confirm NRCs expectations for addressing license renewal applications RAIs. The participants arrived at common understanding on all topics discussed.

No staff decisions were made during the telephone conference call. The NRC staff did not make any requests for additional information at this time.
