'Use of improper cleaningttechniques and solutions could adversely affect corrosion resistance properties of the piping material, resulting in accelerated corrosion of the: pipe?
Assessment of Safety Significance NRR' reviewed the technical aspects of.th'e concern and concluded in their communication,to Region V that the spray pond piping corrosion was not caused by the use of._too strong a cleaning solvent.
The evalua' tion of,the concern conducted by APS and referenced in correspondenceLfrom ANPP to NRC Region V dated' June 18, 1985, was reviewed by the inspector. An independent check by the inspector of the procedures referenced in the letter revealed that the cleaning solvents identified in the procedures were' included.'on approved materials lists.
- In one case a solvent identified in the letter was incorrectly identified because of a typographical error. The item was brought to the attention of the' licensee.
Staff Position The concerns that corrosion of the essential spray pond piping was due to the use of too strong a cleaning solution could not be substantiated.
Action Required None.
15.
Exit Meeting The inspectors met with licensee management representatives periodically during the inspection and held an exit on September 5, 1986. The scope of the inspection and the inspectors' findings, as noted in this report, were discussed and acknowledged by the licensee representatives.
