Employee Concerns (Unit 1)

An electrician contacted this inspector and a licensee representative about a possiole radiation exposure.

The licensee arranged a briefing for the employee and his partner with the licensee supervisor of health physics.

The supervisor of health physics was able to completely satisfy the employ-ees' concerns.

A second electrician contacted this inspector and a licensee representative about a defective fire seal that he saw while working in Unit 1.

The licensee arranged for the employee and the NRC inspectors to enter Unit I with the maintenance supervisor to identify the specific fire seal identified by the employee. A fire seal 16-121-27 was found to have contracted, thereby allowing light to be observed. The concerned employee stated that a QC inspector observed the contracted seal and lad contacted Delcon elec-trical engineering. The QC inspector was contacted and he identified several additional fire seals which were breached and not rescaled. The maintenance supervisor of Unit I was not aware of the seal problem. The inspector identified the repair of the fire seals as an unresolved item.

The item will be identified in 348/79-38-01, Deficient Fire Seals.
